Friends of Kelso Library meet Michael Dobbs and Quintin Jardine

Michael Dobbs and Quintin Jardine delight Kelso audience

An event hosted by Friends of Kelso Library saw over 70 people turning out on a freezing cold night to be entertained by not one, but two of the most popular authors writing today.

At the invitation of the Convenor Alasdair Hutton, Michael Dobbs & Quintin Jardine came to the Cross Keys in Kelso to enthrall the audience with their tales.

Alasdair did an excellent job in chairing the evening and, after an introduction, he asked both authors how they got started in publishing. Interestingly they both had similar beginnings, in that they had read a novel on holiday and stated that they could do better. They made the decision to put pen to paper and that was the beginning of two very successful careers.

They also discussed their current novels - Quintin has just produced the latest in his Oz Blackstone series "For the death of me " series and Michael has just published "Winston's triumph " the fourth in his Winston Churchill series.

A lively question and answer session encouraged both authors to talk about writing in general, gave advice on how to get started in the publishing world and the methods and sources they use to research their novels.

Many people got in a spot of Christmas shopping by buying books and having the two authors sign them for the lucky recipients.

Sincere thanks to Alasdair Hutton for organising what was all in all a very successful evening.
