The Border Ice Skating Club was founded in 1966 with the aim of teaching children how to skate. Through the years many Border children have benefited from the expertise of our volunteer tutors and some have gone on to Skate professionally for Ice show companies like 'Holiday on Ice'.

The Club still offers tuition for Children up to the age of 16 in a structured form, which allows them to progress from 'complete beginner' to 'accomplished skater'. At the end of each season there are a series of competitions geared to the standard of each group of children together with the 'Competition Day', which allows the better skaters to show what they have learned.

The Club meets every Sunday from October to March, at 12.15pm, at the Border Ice Rink, in Kelso. New members are very welcome and there is a trial period of two weeks before a membership fee (currently 25.00) must be paid. The cost per 2 hour session is 3.50 and skate hire if necessary is 1.50 for more information please contact Anne Innes, Tel (01573) 225894.
