Paul Knox, nephew of John Knox Scottish Reformer, was Minister of Kelso Old Parish Church from 1574 to 1576. He is the first recorded regular Presbyterian Minister of a parish which then included Ednam, Makerstoun and Nenthorn. Prior to that he had been Vicar of St Michael, Church of Maxwell. In 1605, his nephew, James became Minister and he in turn was succeeded by his own son, Robert, from 1835 until 1660.
