2016 Summer Show Prize Winners
Kelso Horticultural Society
The Society looks to promote interest in horticulture in Kelso and the surrounding area and presents two flower shows per year. This year's Summer Show is on Sunday 27 August and the Autumn Show is on Saturday 4 November. Both shows are held at the Tait Hall, Edenside Road, Kelso and are open to the public between 1.00 and 4.00pm.
An Annual General Meeting and three Committee Meetings are also held each year.
In an effort to encourage new local exhibitors, the Summer show recently saw the introduction of the new Kelso Section, consisting of 10 classes of flowers and vegetables restricted to people living within the Kelso Post Code (TD5) area.
The Summer Show also now includes a single class of 12 stems of sweet peas exhibited in a 1lb glass jam jar for the Sprouston Sweet Pea Trophy.
Summer Show Flowers, Vegetables, Fruit, Floral Art, Photography, Industrial and Childrens Sections.
This year's Summer Show will include the National Vegetable Society's Scottish Branch Championships.
Autumn Show Flowers, Vegetables, Fruit, Floral Art, Honey, Industrial and Childrens Sections. Includes a Kelsae Onion class which has a first prize of £40.
The Society also holds the Kelso Front Gardens Competition each August for the John Scott Trophy (a former provost of Kelso) and also the Kelso Patio Gardens Competition for a silver salver. Prize winners are announced at the Summer Show.
