Scottish Charity SC 031266

Charity Begins At Home was set up in March 2000 by a group of retired enthusuastic ladies who had a vision of setting up a Charity to make funds for "good cause" organisations in and around Kelso.

A committee was formed, a shop located and from then on the charity has gone from strength to strength. Apart from the rent of the shop, water rates, telephone and electricity there are no other overheads - all income is distrubuted once a year to "good causes".

During the first six months of trading 6000 had been realised and the funds are gradually increasing day by day as the public are becoming aware of our existence.

To date (April 2003) the Charity has donated 27,000.

Organisations to have benefitted are:-
Kelso Swimming Pool (Defibrillator)
Carham Hall
Sue Ryder Home
Kelso Abbeyfield
Kelso Heart and Stroke Club
Kelso ARC Housing
Kelso Senior Citizens
Borders Wheelchair Curling
Kelso Pipe Bands
Jedburgh Silver Band
Kelso Churches - Year of the Child
Borders General Hospital - Kidney Patients Trust
Borders General Hospital - MRI Scanner Appeal
Lanark Lodge Friends Association
Local Mountain Rescue Team
Edenside and Broomlands School - Play Area Safety Equipment
Kelso Christmas Lights
Kelso Youth Dry Bar
Small Hall Band

With 80 volunteers on the list, the shop is open:
Monday to Saturday from 10am to 4pm.

C.B.A.H is extremely grateful to all who donate goods and to all who frequent the shop to find that bargain. Please continue to give your support either by the giving of unwanted goods or money donations and, through the Trustees Committee, C.B.A.H will continue to look for "good causes" throughout the town and district of Kelso.
